Based in Putney Vermont, The Southern Vermont Friends of Jung promotes the understanding and practical application of the psychology of Carl Jung. Since 1998 various programs have been offered by Jungian Analysts working throughout the New England area.
In recent years, the SVFJ has organized study seminars and book groups, and has sponsored talks by therapists working in the field of Jungian psychology.

The Rescue Project
The Rescue Project is an exhibit and forum that explores different perspectives about the idea of rescue. Included in this discussion will be people who talk about rescue from a political/cultural point of view and therapists who discuss rescue from a psychological position.
This is a collaborative event of SVFJ with Leora Kahn, photojournalist from New York City who has interviewed and transcribed the narratives of rescuers from sites of genocide and mass violence, Larry Hames, director of Brattleboro Community Justice Center, and Grace Mukagabiro Speck, a survivor of the Rwandan genocide.

What does it mean to do depth work in a band-aid world? Depth means leaving a wound open. Healing occurs by allowing what is within oneself to be fully experienced. Our culture, to the contrary, distributes band-aids. Solutions are applied externally that provide temporary relief, but the deeper meaning at the heart of the wound is lost.
Depth work is not focused on solution. It follows the innate capacity of the psyche to direct change. How one experiences healing is unique and does not necessarily adhere to cultural guidelines. It requires faith in a process that is a mystery. It requires suspending judgment of oneself and of others, and it requires suffering. Not every one should undertake depth work, and not every situation requires it. However, when it arises as a possibility and when one is able to follow this possibility, then all of us in this band-aid world benefit from the courage of those who choose to open more deeply.
Reduced Fee Program
The Southern Vermont Friends of Jung offers a reduced fee program of $50.00 per session for those individuals who are interested in depth work but who have financial restrictions.. Insurance is not accepted.
